ترامپ گفت «سه گزینه بسیار خوب» برای رهبری آینده ایران در نظر دارد اما از ذکر نام آن‌ها خودداری کرد. او همچنین گفت: «این کاملا به خودشان (مردم) بستگی دارد که بخواهند حکومت را تغییر دهند یا نه. سال‌ها درباره آن صحبت کرده‌اند و حالا طبیعتا فرصت خواهند داشت.»

ترامپ درباره آینده نیروهای نظامی ایران گفت امیدوار است نیروهای نخبه، از جمله فرماندهان سپاه پاسداران، سلاح‌های خود را به مردم تحویل دهند.

رئیس‌جمهور آمریکا همچنین افزود در صورت روی کار آمدن رهبری «عمل‌گرا»، امکان لغو تحریم‌ها علیه ایران وجود دارد.

ترامپ که این گفت‌وگو را از اقامتگاه خود در مارالاگو انجام می‌داد، تایید کرد که دولت او انتظار تلفات بیشتری را دارد. او گفت: «حتی سه کشته هم بیش از حد است، اما بر اساس برآوردها ممکن است این عدد بالاتر برود. ما انتظار تلفات را داریم.»

او در پایان تاکید کرد که ایران در نتیجه حملات اخیر «به‌شدت تضعیف شده» و در نهایت در برابر خواست آمریکا و اسرائیل عقب‌نشینی خواهد کرد.
