دونالد ترامپ گفته است پاپ لئو نباید وارد سیاست شود و احتمالا از اختلاف اخیر با او این موضوع را یاد گرفته است.

ترامپ همچنین گفت تصویری را که از خودش منتشر کرده بود، چون باعث سوءبرداشت شده بود حذف کرده است. او گفت آن تصویر قرار بود او را در نقش یک پزشک نشان دهد، نه حضرت عیسی.

پاپ لئو نیز در واکنش گفت وارد بحث با ترامپ نمی‌شود، اما همچنان علیه جنگ و در حمایت از صلح سخن خواهد گفت.
