فرماندهی مرکزی ارتش آمریکا، سنتکام، اعلام کرد سه فروند جنگنده «اف پانزده ای استرایک ایگل» که در حمایت از «عملیات اپیک فیوری» در آسمان کویت پرواز میکردند، در جریان یک «حادثه آتش خودی» سقوط کردند و پدافند هوایی کویت به اشتباه آنها را هدف قرار داده است.
بر اساس این بیانیه، هر شش نفر از خدمه با صندلی پران از هواپیما خارج شدند، بهصورت ایمن بازیابی شدند و وضعیت او پایدار است. سنتکام افزود علت حادثه در حال بررسی است. همزمان، گزارش رویترز نیز با اشاره به تصاویر منتشرشده در شبکههای اجتماعی، فرود یکی از خدمه با چتر نجات در منطقه الجهراء کویت را نشان میدهد.
